Meet the member: Lauren

Get to know Lauren…

29-year-old Lauren Hunt lives in Woking, Surrey, and was diagnosed with idiopathic PAH in January 2022. She’s been a PHA UK member for three years.

What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned about PH, or about yourself, since being diagnosed?

You’re not alone, and you are stronger than you think!

Where do you receive treatment?

The Hammersmith Hospital in London. I am fully supported by the doctors and nurses there and they have become a new kind of family to me. They are heroes.

What’s the best thing about being a PHA UK member?

I like seeing other people’s stories and positivity.

What makes you smile?

My son and husband and my loving family, I wouldn’t have got through this journey without them.

What does ‘living well’ mean to you?

Being positive and listening to your body. If you need to rest then do so, don’t ever overdo it as you will come off worse!

What advice would you give someone newly diagnosed with PH?

Reach out and connect with others that have PH. You’re not alone – don’t suffer in silence. Please listen to your body and stay positive.

It’s free to become a member of the PHA UK. Find out more here.
