The cost argument

Specialist rehab is cost-effective and has a high return on investment.

  • The average annual cost per patient of having a specialist physio in each specialist centre is approximately £30
  • The approximate cost of a hospital bed for one night is £300
  • The approximate cost of one year of intravenous drug therapy, for one person with PH, is £30,000

Not everyone with PH needs intravenous drug therapy, or overnight stays in hospital. Yet patients can all benefit from rehabilitation, regardless of disease severity.
