Find your voice: New poetry competition for the PH community

Posted on March 31st 2026

A new poetry competition launched by the PHA UK aims to help people in the pulmonary hypertension community explore the therapeutic benefits of writing.

With prizes for both adults and children, the initiative is inviting entries from now until the end of August. Poems can cover any topic, not just PH, and the judging panel will be headed up by published author, lecturer, and award-winning journalist Michelle Rawlins.

Dr Iain Armstrong, Chair of the PHA UK, said: “Getting creative can be really helpful, especially when you live with a challenging health condition like PH. Putting words down can be both soothing and satisfying, and I personally use poetry to help with challenging times. Don’t be afraid to enter if you think you’re not a’ good’ writer. This isn’t about being technical; it’s about expressing yourself in a way that means something to you.”

The free competition is open to everyone in the UK’s PH community – patients, caregivers, family members, friends, and healthcare professionals too.
