At Broughton Bay

By Cath Billings, healthcare scientist

Across the singing sand,

she walked towards the sea;

memories of forgotten summers

set her laughing, her heart set free.

Old now, slow, but young in mind,

she sees the child run to the waves,

jumping, splashing through the foam,

no cares to weigh her down.

So in the golden evening sun,

worries drift out on the ebbing tide;

and turning homeward, all is calm,

her journey almost done.

AUTHOR COMMENTS:

All my previous writing has been evidence based and scientific. I wanted to see if I can communicate effectively in an imaginative way -I am not creative but the feelings on Broughton Bay are real.
