By Shelley Higham, living with PH
In the quiet chambers of the heart’s embrace,
Where blood flows gently, a delicate race,
Lurks a shadow, unseen yet near,
Pulmonary hypertension, a whisper of fear.
Veins like rivers, once wide and free,
Now constrict, struggle, a painful decree.
Breath comes heavy, a weight on the chest,
Every inhale, a test, a quest for rest.
With each heartbeat, a tale unfolds,
Of dreams stifled, of stories untold.
Yet within the struggle, a spirit ignites,
A fight for the breath, for the days and the nights.
Doctors and lovers, a team in the fray,
Together they journey, come what may.
With hope as their anchor, they navigate storms,
Through valleys of worry, where courage transforms.
So here’s to the warriors, both silent and loud,
Who face down the shadows, who make us proud.
In the dance of the heart, in the breath of the air,
Pulmonary hypertension, but we’re still here to care.
