By Sally Jane Gilroy, living with PH
The dark sky, fades to a soft pale blue,
As the glowing stars disappear from view.
The blackbirds starts singing their morning song.
With a cup of tea held in my hands,
I watch the light touch all these lands,
The flowers starts to open, the world awakens,
My weary spirt is no longer shaken.
From the world outside my window pane,
I feel the rhythmic pulse of the very soft spring rain,
In every leaf and breath of air,
I feel the nature resting there.
My heartbeat its steady drum,
As my lungs reach for the air to come,
I am grateful for the morning mist,
The dew by which the grass is kissed.
Onward and upwards I face this day,
Whatever challenges come my way,
Forged into determination and might,
I will fight through the pain, until the light begins to dip,
and the shadows bend
To find the night time once again.
The shadows flee, the light is shown,
Truly I am never alone,
I will talk to the stars, as the silence exhales,
For here I am SALLY still to tell the tales.
AUTHOR COMMENTS:
I have the most dreadful night time lately, and this poem is a little snippet of what I do throughout the long night, I watch the stars, look at the shadows, wait for the first blackbirds to sing, this is normally the same time as I have a cup of tea. I am very grateful to start each day, and with my PAH and more recent cancer surgery and a extremely slow recovery from surgery to remove a kidney and part of my bladder, the pain from PAH and surgery, a failing kidney, I fight through it everyday, and when I feel so alone I talk to the stars, my flowers, even the grass. It feels very much alive and gives me the strength to see another day through no matter the days challenges.
